Diverse Literature Webinar: Round 2

Last September I was asked to present on the importance of (diverse) book selection. It was a new experience, it was a great opportunity, and I was overjoyed to talk about one of my passions.

Given recent events, and our return to school buildings, I was asked to re-present the webinar. I’ve updated some ideas and concepts, I have added commentary and insight; I’m ready for round 2!

If you would like to join in, to hear my thoughts, listen to some research, and engage in some dialogue, registration is available here. In addition, I know Education Admin Webadvisor has a litany of classes and presenters–so the link is worth browsing regardless, if you ask me.

Hope to see you there–and wish me luck!

**For equity & transparency: there is a cost, no pressure if you cannot afford it. Additionally, know that more attendees does not impact compensation. I will receive a flat payment and merely wanted to share so that if you were interested, you could attend 🤗

March 2021: Welcome Back!

Welcome back??

I have my ears closely in conversations and news segments in California and Nevada, I am always on the lookout for school updates, and it seems that March 2021 is when in-person, of some kind, public schooling will be returning for quite a number of us.

Whether it is one day a week or five days a week, whether it is fully in-person or hybrid, whether it is gradual or immediate, I wish all of you the best of luck. This is the longest any of us has been away from our school routine; so, while it will be exciting and rewarding, it will also be exhausting–and know one can be grateful and tired at the same time.

So I say again: Welcome back 🏫

So . . . I’m back now!

Given the events of January 2021, I can safely assume my slightly longer absence was not a surprise, or noticed! We had a lot on our plates.

Well, what an end to 2020 and what a start to 2021. It didn’t quite measure up to March 2020–the month that seemed to never end, but it did have March 2020’s bafflement, apprehension, and general shenanigans.

Regardless, we can hopefully, now, safely, start a new chapter in what I’m sure will be a long textbook someday. I’m back, ready to write, share, and learn–have you checked out Canon Reclaimed yet? 😁

Insurrection, Impeachment, Inauguration, Investment
— January 2021, I wasn’t ready.

WOW!

I have been expanding and extending my skillset, network, and experiences for over a decade in education. While each of placement and title has developed my character and practice, and each has given me their own unique pride and reward, I have to share this from English Language Fellowship program.

I am so proud and I am learning so much–and that’s the beauty of teaching and being a teacher, there is always room, space, and a place for us to continue learning. Find me, my new set of coworkers, my fellow educators, and more about my placement on Facebook @RELONorthAfrica.
